Bartaman is one of the most well known Bengali daily newspapers and one of the country’s leading regional language news publications. The newspaper was founded in the year 1984 by Barun Sengupta and it has, over the years, grown to become nothing less than a household name in Kolkata and across the state of West Bengal. On any given day, it is estimated that Bartaman has more than 6,30,000 copies of the newspaper in circulation on average, catering to a large, loyal and engaged reader base. Bartaman has its headquarters in Kolkata, and it publishes four editions of the newspaper every day from Kolkata, Siliguri, Burdwan and Midnapore. Bartaman is the second-most widely circulated Bengali language daily newspaper in India, second only to Anandabazar Patrika.
